Provide a progressive curriculum and programs, that allow students to discover, explore and learn the scientific world of human behavior and mental processes, with the provision of hybrid and innovative learning strategies to help them achieve their dreams to become champions in their chosen field and be experts in the five core areas of Psychology.
The Psychology Department of Lyceum of Subic Bay, Inc. aspires to be a globally recognized program with smart, synergetic and bold-personality graduates, who shall become local and international professional leaders
in their field of specialization.
Promote a diversity and inclusion culture in the department between local and international students;
Teach the broad scope of Psychology in a dynamic way in which students understand effectively;
Provide different exposures in the five core areas of psychology that will boost knowledge and
skills in the practice of the profession;
Ensure that scientific and non-scientific professional training are conducted to bridge the gap
between classroom settings and actual professional practices;
Promote a partnership in education with harmonious and supportive environment
among students, teachers, and administration;
Produce graduates with a vigorous and excellent foundation in psychology,
that embody different techniques and tools that will be used in the psychology practice; and
Produce competent psychology graduates who will successfully hurdle the
PRC Licensure Exams and become professional Psychometricians and Psychologists of the country.
Bachelor of Science in PSYCHOLOGY
Psychology is the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. In general, the emphasis is on the individual person and how the person's mental processes and behavior are affected by internal, relational and social factors, Psychology as discipline and professional practice contributes to national development through basic and applied research and interventions aimed at solving problems and promoting optimal development and functioning at the individual, family group, organizations/institutions, community, and national levels. The undergraduate program in psychology provides initial training for those interested in teaching, research and the practice of psychology. Furthermore they provide preparation for graduate studies in psychology as well as further studies in other professions such as medicine, law, and business management. The minimum standards for the BS Psychology program are expressed in the following minimum set of learning outcomes:
Common to all program in all types of schools
a) The ability to engage in lifelong learning and understanding of the need to keep abreast of the developments in the specific field of practice. (PQF level 6 descriptor)
b) The ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing using both English and Filipino
c) The ability to work effectively and independently in multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams. (PQF level 6 descriptor)
d) A recognition of professional, social, and ethical responsibility e)
e) An appreciation of "Filipino historical and cultural heritage" (based on RA 7722)
Common to the Social Sciences and Communication
Graduates of the Social Sciences and Communication programs are able to:
a) Apply social science concepts and theories to the analysis of social issues;
b) Design and execute social science research using appropriate approaches and methods; and
c) Practice professional and ethical standards in the fields of social sciences and communication.
Specific to Psychology
Graduates of BS Psychology must be able to:
a) Demonstrate the capability to discuss and analyze the major theories and concepts in psychology (knowledge in psychology):
b) Demonstrate and apply the methods of psychological inquiry in building knowledge on local culture and context (psychological research).
c) Demonstrate and apply psychological theories and methods in personal and professional setting (application of psychology).
d) Demonstrate capability for self reflection and independent learning in graduate education or in a professional context (independent learning)
e) Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors in research and practice in Psychology (ethics)
f) Demonstrate harmonious interpersonal relationship with colleagues, clients and others (interpersonal skills) in diverse cultural setting.
g) Demonstrate the ability to conduct psychological assessments and evaluation (psychological assessment)
